MA Public Relations

Modules

Semester 1

Interactive Learning Skills and Communication for Postgraduate Study

During this module, you will learn advanced skills in topics such as:

  • Public speaking
  • Writing techniques and language styles
  • Research and referencing techniques.

Research Methods for Postgraduate Study

You will gain an understanding of research methods and methodologies for postgraduate study, as well as learning how to plan and undertake effective research at postgraduate level.

Final Project (Part A)

This module will equip you with the advanced skills you need to develop and shape your own creative practice through the production of a final project.

Semester 2

Critical Thinking for Postgraduate Study

You will learn how to critically assess arguments and evidence from a range of academic sources, as well as gaining an understanding of effective critical reading at postgraduate level.

Final Project (Part B)

This module will involve the completion of your final project.

You must have either a related qualification or significant work experience.

MA Media Production – Direct entry*

Degree summary

Produce original film, television, and digital content while developing your own creative voice through collaborative, project-based learning. Work with industry-standard equipment and facilities, explore storytelling across multiple platforms, and graduate with a portfolio that showcases your skills to employers in the global creative industries.

Academic requirement

Minimum of a 2:2 honours degree, or equivalent, in media studies, media production, media communication, film and television studies, radio and audio courses, performing arts or theatre, public relations, journalism, English, creative writing and screen writing.

English language requirement

IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any other band)

Industry-standard Facilities

BCU’s School of Media is based in the Parkside Building on BCU’s City Centre Campus. Inside you will find a suite of TV and radio studios, post-production suites, and a huge green screen studio.
