MA Design Management

Pre-Master’s Modules

Critical Thinking for Postgraduate Study

You will learn how to critically assess arguments and evidence from a range of academic sources, as well as gaining an understanding of effective critical reading at postgraduate level.

Interactive Learning Skills and Communication for Postgraduate Study

During this module, you will learn advanced skills in topics such as:

  • Public speaking
  • Writing techniques and language styles
  • Research and referencing techniques.

Research Methods for Postgraduate Study

You will gain an understanding of research methods and methodologies for postgraduate study, as well as learning how to plan and undertake effective research at postgraduate level.

Business and Economics*

This module covers the fundamental aspects of global economics and the environment in which advanced and emerging economies co-exist. You will also explore how changes within the global economic and business environment will impact upon marketing strategies of global organisations, international monetary exchanges and managerial economics.

ICT Skills for Postgraduate Study*

You will develop a range of ICT skills for research purposes and postgraduate study – including the presentation of data and using essential tools in Microsoft Word.

Management*

This module will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to run a business. There is a focus on organisational management and business as a transformational process, with an introduction to elements of HRM, marketing and entrepreneurship.
